Welcome to the Marguerite-Marie Delacroix Support Fund Website

Marguerite-DelacroixThe Marguerite-Marie Delacroix Support Fund was formed in 1988 as a Public Utility establishment distinct from the Marguerite-Marie Delacroix Foundation, created in 1950 at Tienen, on the initiative of Mr and Mrs Jules Delacroix in memory of their daughter who died aged 13 as a result of contracting scarlet fever.

While the Foundation continues to manage the Medical and Pedagogical establishment for handicapped children and adults at Tienen, accomodating more than 250 patients, the creation of the Support Fund results from the wish of the founders' descendents to help other organisations in Belgium active in the same field, and to promote research in the field of handicap prevention.

The Support Fund statutes state that the aim of the Support Fund is to " give financial help, through loans, contributions or by any other means, to institutions, associations, foundations, companies or public bodies which have the objective, among others, of providing children and adults, handicapped or otherwise, with the care that their physical or mental condition requires".("Support for institutions")

In addition the Support Fund can promote and finance research or action programmes aiming to combat the causes, whether genetic, accidental or social, of the deficiencies in question, and in particular offer assistance to those seeking research grants.("Research grants")

Lastly, the Support Fund manages certain long term handicap prevention projects directly.
